Walk gently.
Rest deeply.
Return to what is
naturally present.
Daoist Broad Meditation is a gentle mindfulness practice that opens to life as it is.
Rooted in Daoist wisdom, the Broad Meditation Method cultivates spacious awareness and ease in body and mind.
Through regular practice, we meet life with greater clarity, resilience, and compassion.

THE PRACTICE
Broad Meditation attends to both body and mind. Gentle joint movements prepare the body, while regular practice helps us settle unnecessary effort.

COMPANIONING
Meditation is supported by individual guidance inspired by Daoist principles and many years of study and professional experience.

REFLECTIONS
Occasional writings on practice, Daoist thought and ordinary life.
The still mind of the sage is the mirror of heaven and earth, the glass of all things.
Zhuangzi, chapter 13 · translated by James Legge

What to expect
Classes are held live on Zoom and are not recorded. Each class includes gentle joint movements and stretches before the meditation practice.
No previous meditation experience is needed. You will need enough space to sit comfortably and extend your arms freely.
Because the classes are live, there is space for questions and guidance as your practice develops.
Monthly class cycle
Each cycle begins with the first scheduled Monday or Thursday of the month and continues for eight classes. There is then a break until the next cycle begins at the start of the following month.
Please enquire for the dates and joining details. Companioning sessions are arranged individually.
Companioning supports your meditation practice; it is not counselling or psychotherapy.
About Veronica

My name is Veronica. My Chinese name, 柴玲琍 (Chai Lingli), was given to me by my Chinese teacher. My journey into Daoist practice began through qigong. What started as a practical interest gradually deepened into an exploration of Daoist cultivation, bringing together different strands of understanding and experience gathered over the years. My studies have since led me to neidan, or Daoist internal cultivation.
At The Quiet Gate, the emphasis is on practice. Companioning offers a space for questions, reflection and encouragement as your understanding deepens through experience.
The Dao is present throughout ordinary life. Practice helps us recognise and soften the habits, assumptions, and unnecessary effort that get in the way of awareness, becoming more receptive to what is already here. Ziran—naturalness—and wuwei—acting without forcing—guide this approach.
My qualifications include a BSc, BA (Hons), Graduate Diploma in Counselling, and Master of Gestalt Therapy. This background informs how I listen and accompany others. What I offer here is meditation guidance and companioning, not psychotherapy or counselling.
